29 Sept - European Day of Languages

On 26 September, European Day of Languages is celebrated. The MFL Faculty honoured this by organising several activities alongside the usual MFL Society and Japan Club.  On Monday, all forms attempted 20 tricky questions on languages and culture, the winning house being Harvard, with Yuvan, George, Siddharth and Eoin in 7H and 8H scoring full marks.  In Tuesday’s assembly, students of French or Spanish spoke fluently about their adventures on the Year 10 residential trips to Normandie and Murcia, and the canteen spoiled us with Bœuf Bourguignon and Albòndigas. This was followed by student presentations on the Rheinland residential and the 35th German Exchange to Starnberg, in perfect German, on Wednesday, as well as Schnitzel and Lebkuchen at lunch. On Thursday, Jasper, Edwin and Jacob in Year 11 gave a short presentation on EDOL for Year 7 students, followed by a fun interactive quiz surrounding language, families, flags, maps and alphabets, and finishing off with website and apps recommendations. Cure remained unbeaten by far.  Nous adorons les langues!/Wir lieben Sprachen!/¡Nos encantan los idiomas!
